Health Insurance - Important Notice
Many people use health insurance providers to cover part of the cost of treatments. Each of these companies have different ‘terms and conditions’ relating to the treatments they will pay for. Many state in the ‘small print’ that practitioners must be registered with a specific professional body and/or the qualification the practitioner must hold.
Some companies are more up-to-date than others and accept receipts from Foot Health Practitioners (FHP’s) registered to ‘The British Association of Foot Health Professionals’ and similar professional bodies. Other companies will insist on the practitioner being a member of the Health Care Professions Council (HCPC) as a State Registered Chiropodist/Podiatrist.
As an example, Simply Health Insurance require HCPC registration from a state registered chiropodist for them to honour any claims and have rejected claims for treatments carried out by non-HCPC registered FHP’s.
It is solely the responsibility of the customer to know the ‘terms and conditions’ of the policy they have bought and to book with appropriate practitioner.
